Comments about 48 in. x 40 in. 2,200 lb. Capacity JHS Series Hydraulic Stacker:
This is a powerful, versatile, compact and inexpensive forklift for the small shop. Has no battery or engine (except you) so it works all the time! I use this with industrial pallet shelving and modular pallet boxes to store all of my shop equipment vertically freeing up tons of floor space in my small shop.
Now, a lot of the stuff I store is pretty heavy so, I won't gloss over it - raising a full load to full height with a hand pump is a great cardio workout. It does take some effort - more so than a typical manual pallet jack. But, I don't do it often and for the price you can't beat it.
It is designed and fabricated well from quality components. Lifts and rolls smoothly even under load with nice solid wide wheels. Forks can be adjusted easily to suit various widths. The wheeled base can be adjusted as well but best to set and leave alone - it is simple to adjust but takes a little time to do. Has foot pump for fast height adjust but best suited to use when empty - the long hand pump lever is best when making a heavy lift.
The only negative thing I can say about this unit (and it is not a deal killer) is the load lowering (pressure release) mechanism: lowering a heavy load in a smooth, controlled manner requires a lite touch. If you squeeze the release lever too aggressively, the (heavy) load will drop pretty quick and stop just as abruptly with a resulting shock load to the unit. I've used several manual pallet jacks and they all featured silky smooth, precise load lowering with little effort. If I could get my unit to do this I would happily give it a full 5 star rating. This is not a problem with light loads - it works just fine - only with heavy loads.
Overall I really like this unit. You can't beat it for the value - perfect for my operation.

Q:I see the minimum OUTER width of the outriggers is 42", which is good because I need it to fit through a 44" doorway. However, the specs also state the outrigger arms are each 4" wide. It appears that if I have the outriggers set at the minimum outer width of 42", then I would not be able to put a 40" wide pallet down to the floor because the pallet would land on the outriggers. Is this correct, or am I missing something here? Thanks.
A:No, the total outer width of the hydraulic stacker is 42-in. The size of the outrigger arms are included in the total width.
Q:Does this item come packaged so it can be unloaded using a lift gate and can a lift gate be requested for delivery?
A:Yes, a lift gate can be requested for delivery
Q:Is it possible to use this to unload a 9'x5' crate weighing 1800 pounds from street, how hard is it to pull with 2 people?
A:This information pertaining to this hydraulic stacker can be found in the manual on page 5. Here is a link to the manual:
