Details

Proudly made in the USA, the Tradesman round channel vise is designed to handle the most demanding clamping applications. Unlike most vises that have a fixed center nut the Tradesman round channel vise nut is anchored at the rear. This rear anchored nut provides straight line pull and even pressure resulting in greater durability. The round channel design also allows for a completely enclosed spindle and nut assembly. This enclosure keeps debris out and lubrication in for a lifetime of smooth operation.
For ultimate versatility the Tradesman is equipped with main jaws, pipe jaws and a machined anvil work surface. The main jaws are serrated for a sure grip. The pipe jaws are grooved to prevent rotation of round stock and have a two step design to assure a firm hold on both large and small diameter material. Both the main jaws and pipe jaws are fully replaceable. The Tradesman vise is also equipped with a swivel base with dual locking nuts. The open locking design of the Tradesman base allows for a full 360 degrees of rotation. To prevent rotation during use both the locking nuts and base have serrated edges that interact positively to assure a non-slip grip when tightened. The main base has four pre-cast holes for mounting the vise to a work surface. Each vise includes a mounting template for quick no guess hole placement for mounting.
Features:
  • Wider jaws provide greater clamping surface
  • Fully enclosed spindle and nut increases the life of the vise
  • Large anvil work surface
  • Precision turned sidebar
  • 360 Degree swivel base with double lockdowns

  • 1755, Tradesman Vise - 63200

Quality is remembered

Comments about 1755, Tradesman Vise, 5-1/2 in. Jaw Width, 5 in. Jaw Opening, 3-3/4 in. Throat Depth:

I believe that quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten. This USA made vise has outstanding quality. It is a pleasure to use. I like the reversible jaws. I use it primarily to hold tools for maintenance. I also like the inclosed housing for the screw because it keeps dirt from collecting on the screw. I expect to pass this tool on to one of the grand kids so the can enjoy using it too.

Wilton Tradesman 1755

Comments about 1755, Tradesman Vise, 5-1/2 in. Jaw Width, 5 in. Jaw Opening, 3-3/4 in. Throat Depth:

My shop activities require 2 bench vises. I still use my Wilton Tradesman 1740 that has served me perfectly every day for over 25 years. I have been through several 5 and six inch vises in the same time period, none of them Wilton tradesman, and they have all expired or just plain weren't up to the task in some way. What good is a vise that does not hold well, is a pain to use, or eventually breaks? The 4" tradesman out performed every 5 and 6 inch vise I have owned in every way. The new Wilton Tradesman 1755 I just purchased from CPO Jet has been an absolute joy to use compared to the others, I am certain it will serve me perfectly as the 1740 has and still does. Don't take a vise for granted if you use one even occasionally, I consider the Tradesman a minimum requirement for a shop.

The jaws are reversible to a smooth surface, although I use the serrated side with my own hand made .062" thick copper jaw protectors. I think Wilton is a bit too proud of their copper inserts. Everything works smooth and precise and it holds well with minimal force. This vise is the standard benchmark for a general use bench vise.
