Good value for the money.
I needed a jointer that would do at least 8". Not able to justify the expense of a 10 or 12 inch jointer, or have the space for anything larger than the Jet 10", I went with the Jet because it fit my budget and size constraints. I initially had trouble adjusting the fence to 90 degrees because every time I got the fence to 90 deg and then tightened the fence adjuster, it would move slightly.

Nice, but just received.
Just received and built. All around very nice. The fence is weak and will need to playing with but does a good job with the little wood I have used so far. Will be running some black Walnut through shortly which will be a huge test. Also building a new workbench for some large Southern Yellow Pine that will put it to the test. The stand is nice. I bought the Jet portable stand which is amazing. One of the best stands I have ever used. Easy to build and rolls very nicely. I will write a follow-up in a month or so.

Poor Design, Good Customer Service
After assembly and meticulous cutter-blade alignment (within .002" of the out-feed table) my jointer was still cutting a concave shape into my boards. I found that the out-feed table and in-feed table were more than 1/16" out of coplanar over a two foot span. I contacted Jet and they sent me some alignment instructions that weren't included in the manual.

Unfortunately these instructions just had me loosen the out-feed table mounting bots, rotate the table up or down, and tighten them back down. They aren't actual adjustment points. Also, the adjustment didn't work. Even at it's maximum deflection, I couldn't get the tables coplanar.

Luckily, Jet was very easy to work with. I put everything back in it's package and Jet sent UPS to my house to pick up the package. Jet paid for shipping both ways and provided a full refund.

It's about what I expectrd
Straighten out not- so-dimensional lumber, it's a breeze to use. Fits into my small garage/shop. Would have really loved a set of locking casters which I added to make the tool fit in the space I have at my disposal. All in all, it's a great value for the money and I'd recommend it to anyone with limited work space.

B3NCH 10 in. Benchtop Planer/Jointer Combo
I have a Jet jointer which I purchased in 1982. For the new product, I checked "easy to use" (required field) because I haven't used the new product so that makes it real easy. I've only been at this work for 33 years, so forgive my ignorance, but it seems that some products don't measure up, are flimsy, made to poor standards, and don't fit the need of the user. I have a separate machine I use solely for planning. I have several Jet tools and they are all extremely good machines. But I'm wary that a combo will adequately do both tasks as well as individual tools. My point is: the Jet jointer I still have will probably outlive me. This new model doesn't seem to have a long enough in-feed/out-feed table to accommodate my needs. I appreciate Jet for trying to make a good combo which would really be handy. But sometimes shortcuts don't work out very well. And first models have that habit as well. But give them time to get it right and I bet they will. Happy woodworking all.

Great product for themoney
I build small furniture projects using hardwoods of questionable width and thickness dimensions and use the planer/ joiner to get the material ready for edge gluing and assembly. The tool adequately performs these operations which saves me time and accurately delivers glue ready materials.

A few flaws, but overall a nice machine.
After eagerly opening up my new jointer/planer combo, I undertook the daunting task of assembly. It took me about 2 hours to completely assemble the tool. Overall the directions were easy to follow and the tools that were included as with most items were borderline useless. Get your own wrenches and Alan keys out. It was at this point with my family eager (they could have cared less) that I attempted to start the new tool in the living room. That is when the on/off switch fell apart in my hands. I will attribute this to bad shipping or manufacture defect. I called JET and they promptly shipped me a new one. So with some time on my hands I remembered reading a review of how the machine was shipped out of plane and it took hours to adjust it. So i started checking the machine over with a fine tooth comb (or a straight edge). The fence was off by a slight bit 1/16th of an inch if I had to guess. I loosed the bolts and adjusted it. At this point I found three large burrs on the planer fence. I again called JET and reported what I found, and they are shipping me a new fence now. After checking out the rest of the machine it was all very close to plane or dead on. I had to make a few minor adjustments, but overall that was not terribly difficult. I would say if you are a common weekend garage warrior like myself this machine is perfect. If you are an industrial every day making sawdust kinda guy (or girl) this is probably not for you. The infeed and outfeed beds are a little short causing some sniping on the ends of boards if you are not careful. Overall use and ease of use is nice, Converting from planer to jointer takes me about 2 min, and I am sure less once I get better at it.

Great Idea, Not so great improvision
"Disappointment", would be an understatement! Having more than 45 years in very fine furniture woodworking, I was excited to see that the idea of a two-in-one was being manufactured. However, when I unboxed & assembled this machine, I was sadly disappointed. First was that the feed belt was partially shredded. Then after setting the blades with blade magnets, *the parallel of the jointer unit is next to impossible to calibrate and keep parallel! Either the table would skew, from one edge to the other and/or the end of the table would run uphill or downhill! *On the surface planer; the unit table was out of parallel from one edge to the other across the board by .009+, with no way to calibrate the table, without taking the whole thing apart and reposition the worm gear(s) height rods If you need precision, you need precision equipment! I had thought that "Jet" was making higher end machinery, and that perhaps someone like "Dremel" would make something likened to this. What I get for thinking! If just a hobbyist, this is an boarder-line okay tool.

Have you guys fixed the alignment issues and the warped in feed and out feed tables. And other issues that can be seen on Amazon??? Very interested in buying one but don't want one with the issues I see other people having.. Thank you
Tradesman on Dec 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Almost any jointer you buy is going to need to be tuned up before you can start using it. Even Grizzly or Cutech or Powermatic jointers, you have to get your tables coplanar before you can do anything. Only the very highest end and most expensive jointers are likely to show up perfectly calibrated out of the box (or more likely, to come with an installation technician to do it for you).
